Sri Lanka's big day in cricket has been made possible to the untiring efforts of a distinguished past pupil of the School for the Deaf Ratmalana, Shivantha Vivekanandan who is vice president and chairman, Organizing Committee Deaf School Past Pupils' Association.

Shivantha Vivekanandan said that Kishu Gomes, Managing Director of the Caltex Lubricants Lanka Limited in a very magnanimous gesture, had agreed to partner the Deaf School Past Pupils' Association to organise the Deaf schools sports activities like netball, cricket and volleyball for three years till 2004. If Caltex had not come to their recuse they may even have, had to call it a day. The tournament will not have come Sri Lanka's way to host had it not been for Shivantha Vivekanandan in whom the entire Deaf schools sports activities world has faith.

Shivantha Vivekanandan thanked the management of Caltex Lubricants Lanka Limited for their valuable support and encouragement, the co-sponsor SriLankan Airlines, and also the well-wishers for their assistance.

The tournament is open to all Deaf schools without any tournament fees. Entry forms can be obtained from N.K.D.
