CID nabs CMC member

A Colombo Municipal Council member was nabbed by CID along with his alleged female secretary at the BIA on arrival from Dubai after their attempt to sneak into Switzerland with a forged passport was foiled by Dubai Airport authorities.

A senior CID source yesterday revealed that the CMC member had substituted the photo of his wife's passport with the alleged secretary's photo before he had left for Switzerland for a vacation. "The duo who had arrived at Dubai Airport on transit with forged passport was spotted by the Airport authorities", he said. The officials had later informed the CID.

The suspects who were produced before Negombo Megistrate Courts are remanded till June 10.
