by Our Parliament Correspondents The Government yesterday presented two Bills the - Local Authorities (Special Provisions) and the Intellectual Property bill in Parliament. The Local Authorities (Special Provisions) Bill seeks to provide for the calling of fresh nominations and the holding of elections in respect of certain Municipal Councils, Urban Councils, and Pradeshiya Sabhas in the Northern and Eastern Provinces where elections to such Councils and Sabhas have been postponed due to unforseen and urgent circumstances. The Intellectual Property Bill is to provide for the law relating to International Property and for efficient procedure for the registration. Sittings of Parliament yesterday too were curtailed to just about nearly half an hour with party leaders deciding to adjourn business of the House due to the flood situation in the country. |
