The government has taken steps to improve the living conditions of the families displaced due to the conflict in North-East. Initially around thousand families selected in the North Central Province who were affected badly and need immediate relief will be given assistance to repair their houses or build new ones, the officer of the government spokesman said. This project which is estimated to cost around 50 million is initiated following a proposal by the Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and will be implemented by the Ministry of Housing. The project will later be expanded to North East and Uva Provinces and preference will be given to villages affected by the conflict. |
