Nothing can be achieved through violence - Hakeem

Addalaichenai Special Correspondent, P. T. Iqbal

The Minister of Ports Development, Shipping, Eastern Development and Muslim Religious Affairs Rauff Hakeem addressing in convocation ceremony of the Kattankudy Jamiyathul Siththikiya Arabic College said "the LTTE has expressed their mutual understanding and trust of the Muslim community by handing over the cultivation lands again to them which are located in the uncleared areas in the Batticaloa district.

This will pave the way and help further strengthen the ties between the Tamil and Muslim communities by forgetting the bitter experiences created by the war.

"I welcome this magnanimous gesture of the LTTE and express my thanks to the Leader of the LTTE and the leaders of the Ampara and the Batticaloa regions for their humanitarian action."

Minister Hakeem also said that we cannot achieve anything through violence and everything must be handled with endurance.

Deputy Minister of Housing Basheer Segu Dawood, Batticaloa District Government Agent I. Monagurusamy and REPPIA Co-ordinator Marsook Ahamed - Lebbe were also present on this occasion.
