MP in hot water

UNP Chairman Malik Samarawickrema has called for explanation from the Gampaha District UNP parliamentarian who is reported to have stormed the Seeduwa police station to release a suspect in a road accident.

The MP concerned had pleaded his innocence at an inquiry ordered by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe. Appearing before Party General Secretary Senarath Kapukotuwa he had denied the charges against him which included the alleged verbal abuse of the Seeduwa OIC.

The explanation is to be submitted before 3 pm on April 7.
