Moragoda meets EU representatives

Economic Reforms, Science and Technology Minister Milinda Moragoda who is currently on a visit to Brussels to drum up support for the donor conference to be held in Tokyo, Japan, in June this year on Wednesday met Dr. Javier Solana, European Union's (EU) High Representative for Common and Security Policy and Chris Patten, EU Commissioner for External Relations.

A press release issued by the Economic Reforms, Science and Technology Ministry said Minister Moragoda during his meetings discussed the European Union's role as the fourth Co-Chair at the Tokyo Conference and the proposed agenda at the conference. Last week the European Union announced its decision to become a Co-Chair along with the United States, Japan and Norway.

The importance of the conference lies behind the far reaching aid that it is hoped will be offered in rebuilding Sri Lanka after a damaging twenty year war.

The aid offered will be largely to help re-build economy across the whole island.
