Unilevers to sponsor schools cricket

Unilever Ceylon made a spectacular comeback into sponsorship of school cricket in Sri Lanka when they signed a 3.5 million sponsorship package with the Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association and the Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka.

Unilever through their brand name Astra will sponsor the inter school under 14 and under 16 junior cricket tournaments commencing from next month with the participation of over three hundred schools. Announcing the partnership between Astra and junior cricket Ms. Hasanthi Samarathunga Brand Manager Astra said that the company is happy to be the main sponsor of the under 14 and under 16 tournaments. She also said that the company is looking forward to working in partnership with the Board of Control for

Cricket in Sri Lanka and the Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association to uplift the standard of cricket among junior in Sri Lanka. The sponsorship package is designed to involve all 22 districts in Sri Lanka including the Northern Province.

In addition a series of workshops will also take place with the attendance of over 1500 persons including principals, coaches, captains and scorers. Astra has also pledged its contribution to improving the standard of cricket in these schools.
