Schools indoor cricket tourney begins on April 21 by Chris Dhambarage The inaugural inter school under 19 indoor cricket tournament organised by the Ceylon Indoor Cricket Association will commence on April 21 at the Austasia Sports Complex in Thalawathugoda. The tournament is organised to develop indoor cricket from school level and this is also conducted with a view to select a national under 19 indoor cricket squad for the forthcoming under 19 indoor cricket world cup to be staged in 2005. The Ceylon Indoor Cricket Association has already implemented a development plan for schools indoor cricket in Sri Lanka as this game is gaining more popularity day by day. In addition there are future plans in organising indoor cricket tournaments beginning with under 13, under 15 and under 17 age groups to develop indoor cricket in Sri Lanka and to have more experienced players in the future. A workshop on indoor cricket will be conducted for the masters in charge of schools with the intention of implementing this tournament successfully. |
