Anura Rohana excels

Anura Rohana, Sri Lanka's silver medallist at golf in last year's Asian Games did the country and himself proud at the Royal Challenge Indian Open held over the past 4 days at the Delhi Golf Club.

In only his second pro golf tournament on the Asian Professional Golf Tour circuit, he was placed 14th in an elite and illustrious field of 156 golfers with a 6 under par total of 282 over the 4 rounds played in tough and exacting conditions at the traditional and famous lay out in Delhi.

The winner of this tournament was Mike Cunning of the USA, with an 18 under par score of 270.

Last year's Asian PGA Order of Merit winner, Jyoti Randhawa of India with a 10 under par score of 278, was 6th while Dig Vijay Singh, who won the Sri Lankan Amateur Open in two consecutive years in the mid nineties before turning professional, also played well for an 8 under total of 280 and a 10th placed finish. Arjun Atwal, also of India, who won the prestigious Malaysian Open earlier this year, shared 6th place with Randhawa.

Rohana now moves on to Bangkok for the Thailand Open, where it is hoped that he will continue and improve on the good form displayed last week.
