The Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) has decided to carry out a DNA test to identify the relationship between the chained 13-year-old girl found in Orugodawatte and a 17-year-old girl found in Kotahena, Director of CCD, SP Sarath Lugoda said. "Investigations carried out thus far have revealed the possibility of a sibling relationship between the 13-year-old found chained inside the Orugodawatte house and the girl from Kotahena," SP Lugoda said. The suspected mother of the 17-year-old girl is said to have been a pavement dweller living in the Kotahena area. A special Police and CID team headed by SP Lugoda is searching for the missing mother. The Director of CCD, elaborating on the progress of the investigation, said two uniforms of two leading girls' schools in Colombo, found by the residents belonged to the daughter of the alleged woman's first marriage. The 24-year-old daughter, now teaching in an International School, had studied at a Colombo girls' school up to Grade 8 and subsequently completed her education at girls' school in Wellawatta, the SP said. The Director said the investigation team todate could not find any hard evidence to prove child prostitution or the sale of human organs at Orugodawatta house since most of the evidence vital for the investigation had been destroyed or were moved by the people. |
