Annites have advantage over lowly placed Devans

The 24th 'Battle of the Rocks' between Maliyadeva College, and St. Annes College Kurunegala, the two leading schools in the North Western Province will be played on today and tomorrow at Welagedera Stadium, Kurunegala and the one day game for the Janaka Bogollagama Challenge trophy will be played at the same venue on Sunday (March 9th).

Out of 23 big matches played so far Devens have won two and Annites non.

This cricket season Devans have not fared well in the Lemonade Trophy Tournament losing two matches, out right.

This annual encounter has invoked great enthusiasm between the 'Devens' and 'Annites'.

This year Devans will be led by 4th year coloursman Dulitha Malmeewala who is a right arm spinner, captured 29 wickets this season and scored over 400 runs.

Vice Captain Chinthaka Jaya Bandara a 3rd year player is the stamper of the side and claimed 17 victims so far.

St. Anne's is an unbeaten side this season. Out of fourteen matches they have won 7 matches.

They have a well balanced side and is led by 5th fifth year coloursman fine all rounder Roshan Aberathne. So far he has scored over five hundred runs.

Fourth year coloursman and stylish left handed top order batsman Deshapriya Wellalage is the vice captain who has scored over 600 runs for this season. Salika Karunanayake and Sameera de Soysa are two Maliyadeva players who represented the under 15 Sri Lanka National team. These two players will strengthen the Devans side.

A cricketing spirit prevails in the Kurunegala town heralding an event of good sportsmanship and unflagging followship.
