Lankan Navy delegation in India by Ranil Wijayapala A delegation from the Sri Lanka Navy is now in India to have a series of discussions with Indian Naval authorities regarding security and naval operations, Navy sources told the Daily News yesterday. The three member delegation headed by Director General Operations Rear Admiral Sarath Weerasekera left the country on Thursday. Commander Berugoda and Ratnayaka also joined Rear Admiral Weerasekera on this visit. A Navy spokesman said the delegation will take up issues connected to security, Naval operations and the entry of fishermen to Sri Lankan territorial waters. However, the spokesman said the visit of the Naval officers to India is routine and added that the same type of delegation will arrive in Sri Lanka within the six months. Navy Commander Vice Admiral Daya Sandagiri, when Indian Air Force Chief called on him in Colombo, said that the Indian Navy Chief will also visit Sri Lanka at the end of next month. Vice Admiral Daya Sandagiri recently visited India to have bilateral discussions regarding combined Naval operations. |
