Maligawa bomb trial Three suspects re-remanded by Sarath Samaranayake Kandy High Court Judge, Sisira de Abrew yesterday fixed the trial against the four accused LTTE members in the Sri Dalada Maligawa bomb attack case for May 5. The offence has been committed on January 25, 1998. The prosecution has listed 72 items as productions. In this case the Attorney General has indicted Subramaniam Ravindran, Muttulingam Jeewaraja alias Master, Muttusamy Pillai Dharmalingam and Krishnasamy Ramachandran on 149 counts under the Prevention of Terrorism Act. When the case was called yesterday the High Court Judge re-remanded the 2nd, 3rd and 4th accused who were present in court until May 5 and ordered prison authorities to produce them in court on that date. The first accused Subramaniam Ravindran is still at large. Senior Sate Counsel, Buvaneka Aluvihare submitted that he would be away from the island for a brief period from next week and prayed that a long date be fixed for the hearing. Defence Counsel, A. Vinayagamoorthi too agreed with the submissions of the state counsel and requested for a date after March this year. The High Court Judge taking the submissions made by both counsel to account fixed the trial for May 5 and said there will be day to day proceedings thereafter. |
