11 dead as minibus plunges into river in China BEIJING, Wednesday (AFP) Eleven people were killed and one is missing after a minibus carrying migrant workers plunged into a river in southern China, state press said Wednesday. The accident happened Monday evening in Shixing county, Guangdong province, as the workers headed back to their jobs after the Lunar New Year holiday, the Beijing Times said. The driver had spent 11 hours on the road without a break, the paper added. Six woman were among the dead while two people survived. China experienced a series of deadly road accidents ahead of and during the Lunar New Year, a time when millions of Chinese traditionally travel to family reunions. |
