We must understand our responsibilities - Minister Athanayake

by Sigiriya Group Correspondent

"One has to understand one's duties and responsibilities to perform one's duties in a proper manner. This is not only an official requirement but a moral obligation as well", said the Minister of Central Regional Development Tissa Athanayake at an awareness programme for the staff of the Central Regional Ministry - held at Polgolla Cooperative Development Institute.

Primarily the inner satisfaction one gets from the outer boundary of the conventional system of bureaucracy. The other is the opportunity one gets in utilizing the near experiences in the re-organizational process. This is needed for the success of this newly formed Central Regional Development Ministry as we have drawn our staff from diverse sources. We have pooled the necessary resources and other facilities. Our track is perfectly clear to use your knowledge and wisdom. What we aim by this workshop is to make you compliant towards public work, said the Minister.

Minister Athanayake said that the Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has placed a great responsibility on him by appointing him as the Minister of Central Development Kandyan Region. So we have to give the equity in respect of social economic and cultural benefits as that of others. The Central Region Development Ministry has a very big role to play said the Minister. He said the CRD's work is not confined to the Central Province but it goes upto the NCP as well.

Senior lecturer of the Sri Lanka Development Administrative Institute - W.A. Jayasundara made an introduction of official procedures in the context of the state circular.
