By Shirajiv Sirimane

For the first time an American will sponsor the seventh annual Bridal Fair from March 20 to 23 at the Exhibition and Convention Centre. (SLECC).

The American beauty culture products manufacturing company, Indola will be the principal sponsor of the event. According to the General Manager SLECC Shanthi Outschoorn this is the first time that a US company is sponsoring an event of this magnitude. She said that the healthy political and economic situation in the country had prompted this company to sponsor the Bridal Fair which is being held for the seventh year in succession.

"Top decision-makers of the company will visit Sri Lanka during the exhibition period and they will have more plans for Sri Lanka". She said that in addition two companies in the United Kingdom and companies in India and Pakistan too would be participating in this event. "We will conduct a fashion show daily and there will be live demonstrations and competitions daily mainly targeting the new and up and coming beauticians".

The General Manager said that SLECC is also hoping to conduct two exhibitions out of Colombo. "Last year we conducted one of our events in Kandy and it was a success". Senior Marketing Executive SLECC, Nayana Jayawera said that last year over 24,000 people visited the exhibition and this year they are targeting nearly 50,000. Entries for the event close on February 28 with the SLECC.
