IOR-ARC Business Forum Meeting

The Indian Ocean Rim Association for Regional Co-operation (IOR-ARC), a grouping of 19 Indian Ocean island states will hold its Business Forum in Colombo on March 30.

Member states include Australia, Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Iran, Kenya, Madagascar, Malaysia, Mauritius, Mozambique, Oman, the Seychelles, Singapore, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates and Yemen.

China, Egypt, France, Japan and the United Kingdom are dialogue Partners, while the Indian Ocean Tourism is an observer.

IOR-ARC aims to focus its attention and resources on market access and trade facilitation. The IOR-ARC was launched in Mauritius in 1997 whose main objective is to facilitate trade and investment in the region.

The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL) and the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC), the Focal Points for the IOR-ARC Business Forum in Sri Lanka will be organising the Forum in Colombo.

Sri Lanka would assume the Chairmanship of the Indian Ocean Rim Business Forum (IOR-BF).

Indian Ocean Rim Business Forum (IOR-BF) is the representative of regional commerce and industry within the IOR-ARC process and acts as an independent voice for business in setting the directions and priorities for cooperation.
