Pramuka Bank case : Former PA politico to be questioned by Sarath Malalasekera

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) probing the Pramuka Bank fiasco will question a former People's Alliance Western Provincial Minister next week, a Senior officer of the CID said.

The special CID team investigating into the alleged malpractices at the Pramuka Bank said that the politico, a senior member of the PA, had deposited a large sum of money at Pramuka Bank and obtained 'Gold Certificates.'

The CID has already questioned several senior government officers who are alleged to have deposited state funds at the Pramuka bank and obtained 'Gold Certificate.'

The CID file a report in connection with their ongoing investigations into the Pramuka bank before the Maligakanda Magistrate and Additional District Judge Ms. Kusala Sarojini Weerawardena. Former Chairman and Managing Director of Pramuka Bank Rohan Perera and several other senior officers were directed to appear in court when noticed.

On an application by the CID the Judge directed the case to be called on March 28, 2003.
