A doctor of a private hospital in Wellawatte is alleged to have been assaulted by a person accompanying a patient at around 10.30pm on Sunday, Wellawatte Police said yesterday. The suspect who was under the influence of liquor and his son had arrived at New Delmon Hospital OPD in a Pajero jeep at around 10.30pm. While the child was receiving treatment from the doctor, the father who was apparently drunk had assaulted the doctor without any valid reason, Police said. Contacted by the Daily News the General Manager of New Delmon Hospital, M.L.M. Nawaz said that they were yet to receive an account of the incident from the doctor concerned. |
