John Keells Office automation celebrates 10th anniversary

John Keells Office, Automation (JKOA) celebrated ten years in Sri Lanka's market on January 14. The company, which was established on January 14, 1993 with a share capital of Rs. 5 million, has grown in scale and scope; from 23 members at inception to over 200 employees today.

JKOA is one of the largest Office Automation suppliers with an annual turnover of half a million and has become the leader in providing the most renowned and effective after sales service in the industry. JKOA is the exclusive distributor for global power brand Toshiba, and its product portfolio includes digital copier solutions, copiers, facsimiles, notebook computers and business telephone systems, supported by state-of-the-art workshop facilities.

"We pioneered the "2611+1" service concept - two hours response time, six days a week, once a month routine service, one year warranty plus one-to-one backup in case of workshop repair, said Chandima Perera, Director/General Manager, JKOA. "We also have the distinction of being the first ISO certified company in the John Keells Holdings IT sector, which includes a further five companies, by Det Nofbke Veritas, an international ISO certifying body based in Holland."

During its ten-year growth trajectory, it won over 12 Quality Service awards from its principals, Toshiba Corporation. Many of the awards also cover good management and outstanding performance.

The company is integrated through a 100 mbps network with Lotus Notes which provide the front-end to the Internet and e-mail. A Rs. 6000 Server/Informix Database with an NT Server provide the platform for this infrastructure, which enables the identification of customer requirements and product details at the click of a mouse. "A truly efficient and impressive service within the minimum turnover time which few companies can rival in Sri Lanka," Perera said.

JKOAs client base is 13,000 customers - and over 18,000 units sold to date, supported through an extensive network of agents, islandwide in 12 key towns and cities; JKOA is also the exclusive agent for Toshiba in the Maldive Islands. "We consistently pioneer new paths," said Perera. "After 2611+1, we set up the first website for online services on January 14. This enables customers to log in and sign maintenance agreements purchase toners online, settle bills, and request for customer support services.
