Aitken Spence insider dealing issue : AG's decision this week

Attorney General, President's Counsel, K.C. Kamalasabayson will announce his decision on Aitken Spence insider dealing issue later this week.

The Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) probing into the issue against three directors of Aitken Spence including its Chairman Michael Mack over the controversial sale of Aitken Spence shares mid last year referred the case to the AG.

Finance Minister K.N.Choksy had said that the AG's decision will be the final on the matter.

The AG has already had discussions with Acting Chairman of the SEC, Dr. Nihal Jinasena and the Director General of SEC, Dr. Dayanath Jayasuriya in connection with the issue.

AG Kamalasabayson told the Daily News that the representations were made to him on behalf of Michael Mack, Chairman SEC (who has taken leave of absence following the issue) by PC Romesh de Silva.

The two-member panel report on the findings of the issue was prepared by a retired Supreme Court Judge and a member of the Accounting profession. The panel detailed the SEC's investigations in a 20-page report. "After considering all the details, an announcement will be made during this week," Kamalasabayson said. CJ
