Muralitharan may not play on Thursday - Jayasuriya

ADELAIDE, Australia, Monday (Reuters) Sri Lanka captain Sanath Jayasuriya is still unsure whether off-spinner Muttiah Muralitharan will be fit enough to make a comeback on Thursday in the one-day match against Australia in Sydney.

Muralitharan, rated by Wisden last month as the best bowler in test cricket history, is recovering from a hernia operation and has already missed Sri Lanka's first three matches, all losses, in the triangular limited overs series.

"He has been bowling alright, but the thing is he needs to field also, because that's the problem we have at the moment," Jayasuriya told reporters on Monday.

"We are working with him at the moment with the physio and we'll see how it goes."
