Lehmann will use Sri Lanka game to test fitness ADELAIDE, Australia, Monday (Reuters) Batsman Darren Lehmann, who missed Australia's last two tests against England with a leg infection, will return to action as Australia A captain in a one-day match against Sri Lanka on Tuesday. Lehmann, 32, who was included last week in Australia's 15-man squad for the World Cup starting in southern Africa next month, said on Monday he had not fully recovered from the infection. "I still don't feel 100 per cent, but I'm feeling a lot better each day," Lehmann told reporters in Adelaide. "So it's a case of getting out there, playing some cricket, and seeing how I really do feel afterwards. I do feel confident I'll get through. "It's really going to be a case of how I pull up after the Australia A game." Lehmann made 119 in Australia's 142-run win over Sri Lanka in Perth on December 22 before he was diagnosed with the infection and hospitalised. The infection ruled him out of the final two test matches against England in Melbourne and Sydney. The triangular one-day series resumes on Thursday when Australia host Sri Lanka in Sydney. Australia will also play England in Hobart on Saturday. "Anything can happen from now until we leave, injuries and so on, as we've seen with Jason Gillespie, Shane Warne, Glenn McGrath and myself," Lehmann said. |
