An International Buddhist Conference to mark the 250th anniversary of the Shyamopali Maha Nikaya will be held in Sri Lanka from January 15 to 17 with the participation of the Maha Sangha and lay representatives of several countries.

The occasion will be utilised to discuss measures to protect and spread Theravada Buddhism and protect Buddhists from the threat posed by unethical conversions to other religions, said a press release issued by the Buddhasasana Ministry.

Buddhasasana, Justice, Law Reform and National Integration Minister W. J. M.
