by Tharika Goonathilake War-ravaged Jaffna will throb to the "drums" of peace in the form of a mega peace concert, when popular Indian artiste Pushpavanam Kuppusamy takes centres stage at a gala musical show at the Jaffna Hindu College Grounds on January 10. The concert, has been organised to celebrate Sri Lanka's peace process. The Ministry of Commerce and Consumer Affairs together with, Dialog GSM, Shakthi TV/FM, has organised the concert, the first of its kind in the war torn zone in decades. The concert will also coincide with the opening of a CWE outlet and mark the formal discussions to open a Salu Sala and State General Corporation outlets there. "People in Colombo had an opportunity to celebrate the peace initiative in December last year through a similar concert. This show in Jaffna will provide people in the peninsula a chance to celebrate in an upbeat mood," Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs Ravi Karunanayake said at a press conference yesterday |
