Lionair launches third daily flight to Jaffna Lionair, a leading domestic airline launched a third daily flight to Jaffna from January 2. "The response from the public, to the In-Flight Service and the operation of the only western aircraft, has been tremendous. This extra daily service will leave Ratmalana at 7.30 a.m., 11.20 a.m. and 3.10 p.m. and leave Palaly at 9.25 a.m., 1.15 p.m. and 5.00 p.m., a company press release said. The first domestic airline to fly the skies of Sri Lanka was Air Ceylon, followed for a short while by Upali Aviation, Lionair, the third airline to fly in Sri Lanka began its service in 1994 and has flown over 17,000 flights within the island carrying over 700,000 passengers, and plans to celebrate the carriage of the one millionth passenger in the near future. Lionair operates a British Aerospace Hawker Siddley 748 aircraft with Super Rolls Royce engines at present. "We sell, comfort, reliability and most of all safety coupled with excellent In-Flight service by our internationally trained Lionair flight attendants," said the Chairman of Lionair, Chandran Rutnam. |
