Unitary system acceptable to all communities for eternal peace

We hope to bring a solution to the ethnic problem within the military system of the country which is acceptable to all communities and would pave way for eternal peace said M. H. Mohamed Minister of Western Region Development at a Daham Hamuwa held at Sri Sudharsanarama temple Avissawella to mark the 10th anniversary of pinnacling the Dagoba by the late President Ranasingha Premadasa.

The ceremony was organised by Mr. Jayanta Ketagoda Colombo district MP and Avissawella UNP organiser Minister Mohamed said that he would continue the development work started at this temple by President Premadasa.

He said that we need to live irrespective of religions, caste, creed, communal and other differences. It is then that we could achieve the goal of prosperity.

He said that we do not want to divide the country. There must be one country with one government. This is our concept. We want peace and not war. He said that he respect all the religions and all communities. We must live as Sri Lankans.

The Minister paid a glowing tribute to Mahopadya Werahera Ariyawansa Adhikarana Sangha Nayaka for the great service he rendered to develop the Avissawella area. R. A. D. Sirisena, Minister of Samurdhi said that Avissawella is a developing town. The late President Premadasa took a keen interest in developing this town. He made this temple the hub of his development program.

President Premadasa did an unforgettable service to the country, This country need his concept. It helped people to develop their spiritual and material lives. Prasanna Guanwardana, Mayor of Colombo said that he got the opportunity of associating President Premadasa when he was in government service.

He learnt a lot from President Premadasa. He was a practical man. President Premadasa took steps to develop Avissawella-Colombo train service. He said that Avissawella town development project was initiated by him on the instruction of President Premadasa and implemented on the instruction of the present Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe. He said that the Sri Sudharmarama temple and the Venerable Mahopadya Werahera Ariyawansa Adhikarana Sangha Nayaka cannot be separated. They are one institution, serving as the centre of the development program of Avissawella town.

Jayanta Katagoda Colombo district MP and Avissawella UNP organiser proposing the vote of thanks said that step will be taken to restore the ancient pomp and glory of the Seetavaka kingdom. He said that he has already taken steps to develop and renovate the places of historical and archaeological importance at Avissawella. They propose to build a tank to beautify the town. The Seetavaka Rajasinghe project will implement this program.

The Venerable Galaboda Gnanissara Nayake Thera presided over the Daham Hamuwa. The Venerable Mahaopadya Werahera Ariyawansa Adhikarana Sangha Nayaka Thera delivered the welcome speech.

Venerable Kanampelle Medhananda Thera and Mr. K. D. P. Arsakularatna Chairman Seetavakapura UC also spoke.
