GMOA hopeful of unity next year

The Board of Trustees of the Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) yesterday expressed confidence that the Association will return to its usual strength and unity with the dawn of the new year.

Dr. Sarath Gamini de Silva on behalf of the Board requested the general membership not to be misled or frustrated by inaccurate reports on the recent affairs of the GMOA that may come their way from time to time.

A further General Meeting of the Association has been fixed for January 3 to confirm the names of the members in the Interim Committee, de Silva said in a press release. Commenting on newspaper reports on the disappearance of certain documents of the Association, he said it was only a passing incident. Informing the police was a mere formality as no money had been withdrawn.
