Lanka Yalta Lions scored an upset 55 run victory over East West Marketing in their Lion Open indoor cricket tournament Division one match played at the Austasia Sports Complex in Thalawathugoda yesterday.

Lanka Yalta Lions batting first collected 98 runs from their 16 overs with Chryshantha Peiris (23), Gamini Perera (18) and Tharindu Mendis (15) making good contributions. Chamindu Perera had the best figures of 4 for minus nine runs for East West Marketing.

However East West Marketing in reply managed only 43 runs from their 16 overs with only Muthumudalige Pushpakumara (17) and Chandika Sisira Kumara (16) offering any real resistance. Tharindu Mendis (3 for minus 9) and Lyndon Hannibal (3 for minus 5) did the damage for Lanka Yalta Lions.

Meanwhile in the Masters over 35 indoor cricket tournament Ceylinco Sports Club put up a fine performance to beat Pan America SC by 21 runs. Pan America SC batting first hit up a challenging total of 63 runs from their 16 overs. But Ceylinco SC overtook that score at the end of the 8th over and went on to finish with 84 runs from 16 overs. (C.D.)
