Minister wants party leaders to work for country

by Malwana group correspondent

All political party leaders must unite and work together for the country's benefit or for party benefits. If this does not happen, the country will suffer without any future, said Mass Communication Minister Imthiaz Bakeer Markar.

Addressing a meeting at Pugoda Post office, after opening the 37 Sannivedana Piyasa, he said during the past, political leaders only spoke about themselves and their parties.

"Due to this, our country has became economically very weak. At least now, the leaders must getogether and uplift the country economically and see that lasting peace prevails for the future generations", he said. Markar said it is fortunate that there is peace in the country.

People are free to move from the North to the South, he said.

The Minister said this situation must be protected and nurtured, and only then the country will prosper economically.

School Education Minister Suranimala Rajapakse said Postal week celebrations will be held in Dompe electorate soon and all short comings remedied.

Post Master W. M. Piyasena, Dompe UNP chief organiser and WPC member Gamini Gunaratna, Dompe PS Chairman Ubaya Kumara Jayawardana and Pugoda Post Master S. A. H. M. Suraweera also spoke.
