A Korean expert, Dr. Rho Boo-ho arrived in Colombo on December 14 as a short term expert under the cooperation assistance programme of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) which is the channel for providing technical cooperation by the Korean Government. Dr. Rho has graduated from the Seoul National University and holds a Ph.D in Decomposition Goal Programming from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in USA. At present, Dr. Rho is attached to the Sugang University of Korea as a Professor. Upon the request of the Government of Sri Lanka, the Republic of Korea has agreed to provide the services of Dr. Rho to advise the University of Wayamba on Productivity Promotion and Business Management. During his three month tenure in Sri Lanka, Dr. Rho will mainly focus on the national productivity enhancement strategy in Sri Lanka and areas and approaches for further improvement, and also on Business Management within the national development strategy and its effectiveness in the current rapidly changing environment. He will work closely with the University of Wayamba, Industrial Development Board and other relevant agencies. KOICA has sent Korean experts to developing countries to share Korea's development experience and technical expertise through counselling and guidance as well as through research activities. This programme is carried out as a major part of the Human Resources Development (HRD) programmes for developing countries. |
