by Deepal Samarasekara A constable attached to the Pamunugama Police shot himself to death with his personal weapon after shooting his girlfriend to death on Wednesday. Constable Chaminda Dammika 34 shot his girlfriend Dilani Liyanage, 24, before pointing the gun at him, police said. Police believe a dispute between the two lovers as the reason for shooting which took place at a shop belonging to girl. The constable had met his girlfriend at her shop while he was on night patrol. The duo were expected to get married soon, according to the police. "They had an argument which ended with the shooting," police said. The couple in a critical condition were taken to hospital where they were succumbed to their injuries, police said adding they have recovered the T.56 used in the shooting which happened two days after the opening of the Pamunugama Police Station. |
