SEEDS Trade Fairs to promote market access to small producers

SEEDS held its inaugural Trade Fair titled "SEEDS 2000" at the Vihara Maha Devi Park from December 15 to 17 to promote market access to small producers in the country, who would otherwise not have the opportunity to display their products and services to a wider market.

A secondary objective was to position SEEDS as not only a Micro finance Practitioner, but also as a provider of Business Development Services and a promoter of Small Enterprises. The Fair also served as a forum for producers to explore market requirements through organised Buyer-Seller meetings.

The "SEEDS Mega Market 2001" was held from December 21 to 23, 2001 to promote market initiatives for SEEDS' clients and thereby enhancing SEEDS' image. In addition to the 190 stalls run by SEEDS-supported entrepreneurs, other NGOs and the private sector operated eight stalls, while enterprising vendors ran a few mobile stalls.
