Twelve teams for Women's Rugby Sevens

The Western Province Rugby Football Union women's seven a side rugby tournament will be worked off today at Longden Place. A total of twelve teams will participate in this tournament and they will be vying for honours in the Cup, Plate and Bowl championship.

The teams have been drawn into four groups and group 'A' comprise Kelani Valley, Havelocks SC and Central Province while group 'B' includes Army SC, North Central 'A' and Air Force SC. Group 'C' includes Hatton National Bank, North Central 'B' and Tri Star SC while group 'D' includes Slimline SC, Tri Star BC and Galle SC.

This tournament will be of significance as it will also serve as a trial to select the national pool to represent the country at the 2003 Asian Zone women's sevens tournament to be held on March 27 and 28 in Hong Kong.
