President condoles

President Chandrika Kumaratunga in a condolence message issued on the death of Mrs. Iranganie Malanie Ranasinghe, wife of JVP Leader Somawansa Amarasinghe, said Mrs. Ranasinghe was a progressive lady who sacrificed her life for the cause of social justice in this country.

The message addressed to Mr. Somawansa Amarasinghe at No. 1/5, first lane, Pagoda Road, Nugegoda said that Mrs. Ranasinghe had been a great source of strength and assistance to Mr. Amarasinghe in his political activities.

President in her message has expressed her deepest sympathies to Mr. Amarasinghe, his son and the JVP membership at the time of their grief.
