The sixteenth phase of the National Jak Development Project (NJDP) of the Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Limited (ANCL) gets under way in the Pradeshiya Secretariat premises and the Beruwala General Post Office premises on December 15th morning. The NJDP which is a Janasetha programme of Silumina and is fully sponsored by the Sevena Lottery. The planting ceremony at Beruwela is organised by the Beruwela Youth Provincial Association in collaboration with the Pradeshiya Secretariat. Around 1000 jak saplings donated by the Green Movement and its several other affiliated groups will be planted on this day. The Chief Guests on this occasion will be Information Minister Imitiasz Bakeer Markar and the Kalutara District PA Member of Parliament Rohitha Abeygunawardena. Among others who will attend the function will be the Chairman (ANCL), Attorney-at-Law Nalin Ladduwahetty, Director Editorial and Marketing Bandula Padmakumara, the Board of Directors of ANCL and officials of the NJDP. Officials of the National Lotteries Board and Coordinator of the Green Movement Suranjan Kodituwakku will also be present. (FW) |
