by Florence Wickramage An immediate response has been received for our exposure titled "Nailed ads destroy trees" appearing in the front page of Thursday's Daily News. It has been brought to our notice that the authorities concerned had taken action to remove all the advertisement boards which had been nailed to the trees along the High Level Road by Thursday evening. We have also received information that several advertisements nailed to trees along the Galle Road have also been removed. When contacted by the Daily News a CMC official said that they were continuing the "keep the environment clean" drive of the Colombo Municipality. As such they were concerned that the trees lining the roads are not damaged by unscrupulous businessmen to display their advertisements. |
