Mundo gas before Christmas

by Rashomi Silva

Mundo gas the third entrant to Sri Lankan gas market will be available before this christmas, Trade and Consumer affairs Minister Ravi Karunanayaka told the Daily News yesterday.

The minister said the company has a panel of agents countrywide. Therefore Mundo gas will be available islandwide.

Ariyaseela Wickramanayake the Chairman of the Mundo Gas said the price of a cylinder of gas will depend on the price of gas in the international market. "However our rates will be at least Rs 100 less than the other brands available in the market," he said.

Wickramanayake said the company is in the process of installing filling machines imported from Denmark and the delay was caused due to the unavailability of a ware house for storage.

"I had to build a ware house for the Army to release the ware house they were occupying in the Galle harbour," he said.

The company has appointed over 4,000 agents for distribution and over 100,000 cylinders of gas will be distributed among the agents in the initial round.
