Negombo special corr

Kalutara Balika Vidyalaya, clinched the 'Milo' champion trophy at the all-Island Netball Championship 2002, held at Maris Stella College grounds, Negombo recently.

Fifty two leading girls school teams from all parts of the island covering from education zones participated. The chief guest on the final day was the Speaker Joseph Michael Perera, distributed the awards.

The School Education Minister Suranimala Rajapakse participated as the chief guest at the opening ceremony. Four age group events for under 12, 14, 16 and 18 were conducted on three days.

All participants from outstation schools, were provided lodgings and other facilities in neighbouring schools. Negombo Zonal Director of Education J. A. D. L. Hemachandra and other sports officials participated.

Results

Under 12 - Kalutara Balika Vidyalaya, Kalutara.

Under 14 - Kalutara Balika Vidyalaya, Kalutara.

Under 16 - St. Joseph's BMV, Nugegoda.

Under 18 - Girls High School, Kandy.
