No criminal act at STF camp - Magistrate by Sarath Malalasekera Akkaraipattu Magistrate C.M.Y.M. Issadeen who held the inquest into the death of six persons in an incident at the Special Task Force, Kanchirankuda Camp on October 9, said in his report that no criminal act would have taken place. "After keenly observing the circumstantial evidence available in the place of incident and the evidence led, the court cannot entertain any reasonable doubt as to the cause of these six deaths. I decided that no criminal act would have taken place." "My judgement on this incident is based on the evidence led before me in this inquest and the post-mortem examination report submitted by the Legal Medical Officer who performed the autopsies on the dead persons," the Magistrate added. The six dead persons are Manoharan Sathiyanathan, Mahendramoorthi Ratheeskumar, Nalliah Kumar Kulasingham, Vijayarajal Jayapragash, Arasaralinan Selvakumar and Nagarasa Sasikumar. The deaths were due to gunshot injuries to the brain, heart and lungs which had affected the pulmonary arterial systems, the report stated. |
