Bulathsinhala special correspondent Prima Sri Lanka Limited will open the first Bakery Training school in Sri Lanka consisting of modern machinery and technology in Asia at a cost of several million rupees in Rajagiriya, said Ranjan Amarasinghe, Principal of Prima Baking Training Centre addressing a seminar of bakery owners held at Madara hotel, Horana recently. The seminar was organised by Horana Prarthana Trade Centre with the assistance of Prima Sri Lanka Limited to educate the bakery owners in the area on how to bake quality bread and other sweetmeats. About 50 bakery owners participated in the seminar. He said that most of the school leavers who are interested in learning bakery preparations are left with little or no opportunities to learn the trade. Most of them envisage to put up a bakery on their own as a self employment venture. This Bakery Training Centre will fulfil such expectations. He said that there are four varieties of flour in the market manufactured by Prima company. They are Prima clover with high protein for making bread, Prima Mill brand, for all purposes including bread making, Prima red bags for making cakes only and Prima green bags for home-made food varieties. We must select the relevant flour for relevant purposes, he advised. M. H. Liyaudeen, Area Sales Manager of Prima Sri Lanka Company said that under the programme of training bakers and bakery owners in the country by Prima Sri Lanka Limited, 27 workshops had been successfully completed with the participants showing great interest to follow these training programmes. T. M. Dhananda, Assistant Manager, Prima Sri Lanka Limited, Ranjith Vipula, Chief Technician and Keerthi Kumara Anandawansa, Director of Prarthana Trade Centre, Horana also participated at the seminar. |
