by Uditha Kumarasinghe The Government will take immediate measures to overcome the problems faced by Samurdhi Managers, Agriculture, Livestock and Samurdhi Minister S.B.Dissanayake said. He said steps will be taken to overcome salary anomalies of all Samurdhi Managers from January 1 next year. "If the Tissa Devendra Salary Commission has not made any suggestions on the wages of Samurdhi Managers, a special cabinet paper will be submitted as an immediate measure to increase their salaries," the Minister said. The Minister who was the Chief Guest at the sixth National Convention of the All Island Samurdhi Managers at National Youth Centre, Maharagama said promotions of all Samurdhi Managers will be made through a systematic manner from next year."In future, the Samurdhi Ministry in collaboration with Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation will implement a special insurance scheme for the benefit of Samurdhi Managers." Under this insurance scheme, if a Samurdhi Manager died in an accident, he will be provided Rs.one million compensation while Rs.one million will also be granted for a disability of a Samurdhi Manager. For a partial disability or a natural death, Rs. 500,000 will be paid to a Samurdhi Manager, he said. Dissanayake said arrangements have also been made to provide overseas training to Samurdhi Managers. Those who are getting ready to obtain Post Graduate degrees will be given the opportunity to go abroad. |
