Greetings to China from Communist Party

The Central Committee of the Communist Party of Sri Lanka which met recently resolved to convey its revolutionary greetings and best wishes to the historic 16th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.

China is shortly entering its 25th year since the CPC embarked upon a strategy to shift the focus of the party to socialist modernisation and policy of reforms and opening up.

Chinese people have since then made significant achievements in all spheres of human activity. The overall national strength of China has increased, enhancing its international image and prestige.

Its emergence as a fast developing socialist country has an impact on the world developments in general and the Third World, in particular, said a press release signed by Dew Gunaratne, the General Secretary.

The CPSL takes this opportunity to salute the memories of the great pioneering leaders of the Chinese Communist Party with respect and honour.

As a party which fought for the recognition of the People's Republic of China and the establishment of diplomatic relations with Sri Lanka, the Communist Party of Sri Lanka draws inspiration from the successes secured by the Chinese people since the dawn of the Chinese Revolution in 1949.

"It is our fervent wish that the 16th National Congress, through its deliberations and decisions will accelerate its modernisation drive with further advances to the great Chinese people".

"The Communist Party of Sri Lanka reiterates its commitment to strengthen further the bonds of fraternal relations between our two parties", states the release.

Signed by Dew Gunasekera, General Secretary, on behalf of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Sri Lanka.
