Krishnapillai, MP of the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) has desisted from attending Parliamentary sessions over an alleged delay at the entrance to the Batticaloa Kachcheri that has taken place on 29.10.2002. It was observed that N. Krishnapillai, MP was scheduled to attend the District Development Council (DDC) meeting at Batticaloa District Secretariat (Kachcheri) which is situated inside the High Security Zone of Batticaloa. He arrived at the sentry point of the Kachcheri around 9.30 a.m. on October 29 and had experienced a delay in entering the Kachcheri by about 3 to 5 minutes. The MP has alleged that the sentry on duty at the gate delayed his passage deliberately. When krishnapillai took this matter up at the DDC meeting, the officer representing the Army has apologized for the incident and a resolution has been approved in consequence. A Detailed inquiry is being conducted by the Divisional Commander and the Brigade Commander in to the matter and it appears that there had been some misunderstanding. Divisional Commander has further assured the MP last morning (7) that all remedial measures would be adopted immediately to avoid any such misunderstandings or recurrence in the future. |
