A Gem and Jewellery Trade Promotion Council is being established as an apex body to assist in the re-positioning of the industry, according to the budget proposals announced on Wednesday. “The Council will encourage banks to establish a gem-trading branch for specialised industry financing. The Government will support industry plans for the establishment of a gemstone laboratory testing facility and industry certification. 

Budget lays foundation for stable economy - NCCSL
