by Sampath Bandara Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) recently launched an international calling card named Sigiri at the Lord Stadium in London, UK with the participation of Mass Communication Minister Imthiasz Bakeer Markar and SLT Chairman Thilanga Sumathipala. Lankan cricketers Aravinda de Silva and Roshan Mahanama also participated. The Minister issued the first Sigiri call card to De Silva who made the first call to his wife Sareeta in Sri Lanka. Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe approved the name Sigiri of the card which depicts several beautiful scenes of Sigiriya. The card is available throughout England and will be available in 14 European cities and in Australia as well as Sri Lanka in a few months. All administrative and operational activities are done at Colombo and SLT expects to earn a monthly income of about Rs. 200m by selling this card. |
