Indian FM to visit Britain for talks with Straw NEW DELHI, Oct 28 (AFP) - Indian Foreign Minister Yashwant Sinha will leave for Britain Wednesday for talks with Foreign Secretary Jack Straw, officials said here Monday. The Indian foreign ministry in a statement said the upcoming talks in London was part of an "ongoing high-level dialogue between India and Britain." The statement added the talks would cover a wide range of issues. "The meeting will review developments in Pakistan and Zimbabwe, both countries currently suspended from the council of the Commonwealth. The agenda also includes discussions on Fiji Islands and Solomon Islands," it said. Sinha, during his three-day visit, will also address the London-based International Institute of Strategic Studies on India's foreign policy, the statement added. Sinha's upcoming talks with Straw would be the second such contact between the two sides since July when the British foreign secretary visited New Delhi and met his Indian counterpart and others. Indian Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee met his British counterpart Tony Blair in London on October 12 while returning home from an India-EU summit in Copenhagen. "The steady flow of high-level exchanges has helped broaden and strengthen our bilateral cooperation and also provided a useful opportunity to exchange views on our core concerns on regional and international issues," the statement said. |
