Ranawana Security win by a solitary point Ranawana Security Services Company came from behind with a superb second half rally to beat Union Assurance by a solitary point 69-68 in their Delmege Super League mercantile basketball tournament 'B' Division match played at the Otter Aquatic Club courts yesterday. Ranawana Security were trailing 23-30 at half time but got their act together well in the second half to turn the game in their favor. Amila Kumara led their fight back with a good contribution of 25 points. Chaminda de Alwis excelled for Union Assurance with 26 points. In another 'B' Division match David Pieris Motor Company Limited defeated HSBC 'A' 81-41 after having led 43-26 at half time. In a 'C' Division game Ceylinco had the better of Lanka Bell 55-30 after having led 28-16 at half time. L. Priyantha made a top score of 17 for Ceylinco. The tournament will be continued today with two more games down for decision. Eagle Insurance will take on Metropolitan Group in a 'D' Division tournament match at 6.30 p.m. This will be followed by the first match of the 'A' Division tournament between Hatton National Bank and Seylan Bank at 7.30 p.m. (C.D). |
