by Sarath Malalasekera The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested the kingpin behind the printing Rs. 10 million worth of forged Rs. 1000 currency notes from Kiribathgoda yesterday. The suspect is a businessman who is also the owner of a Communication Centre at Kiribathgoda and living in the Mount Lavinia Police area. The CID had recovered 350,000 forged currency notes from the possession of the suspects. The CID also recovered a computer and several other items used in the counterfeit currency notes racket. The CID special team attached to the conterfeit division said that about 13 conterfeiter groups are operating in the country printing forged notes. |
